Coercion Combine ‘Eris’ Armor
My intent with this was to test myself to see if I could mimic the rendering style of my favorite series, RWBY and apply it to one of my character meshes.
I started with the character being sculpted in Zbrush, then pulled it into Maya for retopo. Once that was all done, I did UVs and textures for the in-game model. Since the engine that the model is for doesn’t support metalicness or roughness, I had to bake all of that information into the diffuse by baking the lighting information on each model. This makes for an interesting stylized appearance. As for the render, I had studied my favorite character’s texture job from RWBY, Pyrrha Nikos and made smart materials for her metals, fabrics, and trims then applied them to the ID maps I made for the game textures. After that, I had to hand paint on some smaller details, then render out with Arnold compatible toon shaders, and toon outlines.
